Tiq is currently an executive leadership and development coach at Life Labs Learning, a leading organization in workplace development that utilizes psychologically based methodologies to help executives and managers, at over 600 companies globally, transform big challenges into great opportunities. He is also a diversity and inclusion consultant and is the former Senior National Media Strategist at GLAAD. In both roles, the trainings he led and content he created centered on equity, diverse identities, and social transformation. He was a regular guest on MSNBC, CNN, and Fusion networks discussing issues related to transgender rights and gender equality. He worked in collaboration with national media outlets and social media teams to maximize impactful news coverage of LGBTQ people and people of color. He has created workshops and led discussions in partnership with Youtube, Twitter and Tumblr on the importance of inclusive leadership and talent recruitment. Tiq also consulted with dating app Tinder for the rollout or their all gender inclusive update and design, he also helped design and rollout NBC’s digital vertical NBCOUT.com, that focuses on LGBTQ issues. He has spearheaded interactive social campaigns about bridging the gap across marginalized identities with Brazilian based organization Papel & Caneta and with Magnum, the luxury ice cream company. He’s been a featured speaker at Summit, a global gathering of tech and social entrepreneurs, cultural icons and artist discussing ways to create meaningful cultural change through technology, philanthropy, art and research.

Alex Schmider

One of Forbes’ 30 Under 30 for media, Alex Schmider is an award-winning filmmaker and the Associate Director of Transgender Representation at GLAAD, the nation’s leading LGBTQ media advocacy organization. At GLAAD, he advises newsrooms, brands, companies, and media-entertainment entities on how best to approach LGB and, specifically, transgender storytelling. He is the producer of the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival documentary premiered Changing the Game (2019) and 2020 Sundance Film Festival feature documentary selection Disclosure (2020) which is now available globally as a Netflix Original Documentary. He runs the social media strategy and accounts for both films. Among his appearances, he has spoken on panels for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, the ACLU, FOX, Freeform, Good Pitch, Google, HBO, Instagram, Mastercard, Outfest, P&G, TIFF, Tinder, Tumblr, and Viacom.

Join Director Sam Feder, Producer Amy Scholder, Creative Consultant Tiq Milan and Associate Producer Alex Schmider of the Netflix documentary Disclosure for this virtual discussion around select clips of the film, which explores the history of transgender representation in the film and television industry. Schmider, also the Associate Director of Transgender Representation at GLAAD, will moderate the panel. This event is co-hosted by NAMLE and the California Film Institute (CFI).
